Each dot represents 100 reported ancestries from the US Census (ACS 5-year estimates, 2024).
Dots are distributed randomly in their census tract's land area.
You can customize colors by clicking the colored dot in the legend!
Double clicking a dot on the map will filter to just that ancestry.
Ancestry reporting in the ACS is voluntary. So in this data, some people are not counted, and others are double-counted (putting up to two ancestries is allowed).
* Note: The two "no reported ancestry" groups don't reflect specific census data. Rather, they are my crude estimates that attempt to count some of the people who do not report ancestry. Black, no reported ancestry is calculated per census tract as the black (race) population minus all the ancestries in the African and West Indian groups. White, no reported ancestry is analogously the white (race) population minus the European and North American groups.
