This map shows estimated passengers traffic on every commercial route. Thicker and brighter lines have more traffic. The estimate assumes flights are about 83% full on average — fuller on busy high-frequency routes, emptier on thin ones. Cargo carriers and private jets are filtered out.
Flights come from Flightradar24, which tracks planes worldwide by fusing ADS-B, radar, satellite, and airline schedules. We pull every commercial departure over two full days: Friday and Saturday, 15-16 May 2026 and scale up to a year. Only two days are pulled because it's expensive. FR24 data has gaps for several countries, including Uzbekistan and Kuwait, and these were manually filled with data from flightsfrom.com.
This setting groups airports into Louvain clusters that fly with each other more than with the outside world.
