noritetsu privacy

noritetsu is a map of passenger railways that you can use to record the lines you have ridden. It is a hobby project run by one person, Anita. This page describes what it stores about you.
Without an account
Your rides are saved in your own browser and are never sent anywhere. Clearing your browser's site data deletes them.
With an account
Signing in is optional. If you sign in, the server keeps:
- Your rides, including any dates and notes you add, so they can be synced between your devices.
- With Google sign-in, the account number Google gives this app. Your Google name, email address and photo are not stored.
- With a username and password, your username and a one-way hash of your password (the password itself is not stored), plus a recovery email address if you add one.
- A summary of your rides (distance in total and per country, and per-country percentages), saved with your rides for the leaderboards.
- If you join the leaderboards, the display name you choose.
A recovery email is used only to confirm the address and to send password reset links. Those emails are sent through Resend.
What other people can see
Your rides are private. If you make a share link, anyone with that link can see the lines and stations you have ridden, your distance and percentages, and the lists you have starred or reordered, but not your ride dates, notes, or when you logged them. You can turn a share link off at any time, and the old link stops working.
If you join the leaderboards, your display name and leaderboard numbers are public. Your username and email are never shown to anyone.
Other things
There are no ads, and noritetsu does not use tracking cookies or sell or share your data. The server sees your IP address with each request and uses it to limit abuse; it is not kept with your account. The map itself loads from Cloudflare, OpenFreeMap, unpkg and jsDelivr, and the sign-in button from Google; those services see requests as they would from any website.
Saved rides are not currently backed up.
Deleting your data
You can delete your account from the account panel on the map. That removes your rides, login details, email address and leaderboard entries from the server straight away.
